Stump Grinding

Grinding tree stumps below ground level so the area can be levelled, landscaped or planted without digging.

About Stump Grinding

Stump Grinding

Stump grinding reduces a stump to wood chips below the surface, which causes much less ground disturbance than digging it out. It suits lawns, compounds, driveways and places close to walls or paving where an excavator cannot work.

What we do

  • Assessment of each stump and surrounding obstacles
  • Grinding to an agreed depth below ground level
  • Clearing or raking of chips, or leaving them as mulch
  • Topping up with soil where required
  • Checks for stones, metal and buried services before grinding
  • Tidy-up of the work area

What we need from you to quote

  • Number of stumps and their diameters
  • Access route and gate or passage width for the grinding machine
  • Location of nearby buried pipes, cables, drains or foundations
  • What is planned for the spot afterwards, for example lawn, paving or a building
  • Whether wood chips should be left or removed
  • Preferred date and who will be on site
